Marlow & Co.
Our Story
How Marlow & Co. began and how we make things.
A small studio in San Francisco
Marlow & Co. started in 2016 with a single canvas tote sewn in a shared workshop on Bryant Street. We wanted everyday pieces that improved with use rather than wore out with it, so we kept the range small and the standards high.
Materials we can stand behind
We work with mills and tanneries we have visited in person. Organic cotton, full-grain leather, solid brass, stoneware fired at high temperature. If a material cannot survive a decade of ordinary use, we do not use it.
Made in small batches
Every release is produced in runs of a few hundred. Small batches mean we can correct a pattern between rounds, pay makers properly, and avoid the deep discounting that comes from overproduction.
Built to be repaired
Hardware is replaceable, seams are reinforced, and our workshop will repair any Marlow & Co. piece for the cost of materials. Write to us and we will tell you what is possible.
